London College of Fashion and Cartoon Network joint forces creating a competition for students to create a design inspired by the iconic crime-fighting superheroes, Powerpuff Girls. On Friday the designs were shown at Somerset House for London Fashion Week and final year students Cara Edden and Hana Hussein were awarded the top prize for their three designs.

Third year students Cara Edden and Hana Hussein won the £3,000 first prize at the showcase event that took place at Somerset House last Friday 15th February 2019 as London Fashion Week kicked off in the capital. This winning design encapsulated the ethos of The Powerpuff Girls through strong constrasts of silhouettes and exaggerated layers, while ensuring that the playfulness of the brand was represented with colour and embellishments.

The expert judging panel, made up of fashion influencer, Nathalie Ballout, a style writer, a representative from one of the UK’s biggest fashion retailers, the MA Programme Director at London College of Fashion and Leila Loumi, International Licensing Director of Softlines and Health & Beauty at Cartoon Network Enterprises who said,

“The students were inspired by The Powerpuff Girls positivity and attitude and we, the judges, were inspired by the students vision and innate ability to take an iconic brand and create something completely new. The future of British fashion is very bright indeed!”
